Ea Knuec Commune: Striving for 70% of durian growing area for export to be granted growing area codes

According to the Resolution of the 1st Ea Knuec Commune Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030, one of the three key breakthrough tasks set by the Commune Party Committee for the term 2025 - 2030 is to focus on transforming the structure of crops and livestock towards improving economic efficiency, applying high technology and organic agriculture; building production - consumption linkage models; increasing the value of agricultural products and income for people, adapting to climate change.

To specify this content, the Party Executive Committee of the commune has developed and issued Resolution No. 02-NQ/DU on restructuring the agricultural sector towards increasing value, income and adapting to climate change through the application of high technology, organic agriculture and production - consumption linkage models in Ea Knuec commune by 2030.

Ea Knuec commune currently has land resources and favorable climate conditions to develop agricultural production. The whole commune currently has 10,025 hectares of agricultural land, accounting for 85.94% of the natural area. The production value of the crop cultivation industry is estimated at 3,453 billion VND, accounting for 97.52% of the total value of the commune's agricultural sector.

In the commune, there are 32 enterprises; 4 agricultural cooperatives; 8 3-star OCOP products; 30 durian warehouses and granaries; 9 export packaging facilities (1 jackfruit export packaging facility, 8 durian packaging facilities); 21 export growing area codes, with an area of ​​1,133.15 hectares, with 1,371 participating households.

To promote the restructuring of the agricultural sector in association with the innovation of the growth model, the locality has clearly identified the goal of developing modern, efficient, sustainable agriculture that is adaptable to climate change. The top priority is to enhance the competitiveness and competitiveness of agricultural products through the application of science and technology, digital transformation, and the development of organic, circular, and smart agriculture. At the same time, promote the construction and expansion of models of production and consumption linkages along the value chain associated with planting area planning, planting area codes, geographical indications, and traceability to increase people's income and promote the restructuring of the rural economy towards modernization.

The Party Executive Committee of the commune has set a target that by 2030, the whole commune will have 70% of the durian export area granted a standard growing area code according to market requirements; build 5 organic production models; have at least 1 key agricultural product with a profile, registered and protected by geographical indication or certification mark; develop 5 more cooperatives and agricultural production cooperatives according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards; 100% of the mixed garden area in the area will be converted into fruit orchards and commodity production gardens associated with growing area codes. Regarding livestock, the locality will also focus on implementing clean livestock models in the direction of reasonable barn planning, using good breeds, safe feed, and applying biosafety livestock farming processes.

By 2035, the whole commune strives to achieve 100% of the durian export area being granted a standard growing area code according to market requirements; build an effective management and exploitation model of geographical indications, associated with the role of enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative groups and farmer organizations; complete the 1/5,000 scale agricultural soil map of agricultural production areas; form an early warning system on diseases, weather, land, support farmers and businesses to proactively produce.
