Free surgery for children with congenital lip and palate deformities, from December 13-17

The People's Committee of Dak Lak province has issued a document agreeing to implement the Smile Surgery Program for children with cleft lip and palate (cleft palate), facial deformities and other deformities in the province, according to Decision No. 02106/QD-UBND dated November 20, 2025 on approving non-project aid sponsored by Operation Smile, Inc; (O/SUSA).

The program is implemented by the Department of Health in coordination with Operation Smile Vietnam, taking place over 5 days, from December 13 to December 17, 2025, at Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital (No. 298 Ha Huy Tap, Tan An Ward, Dak Lak Province).

To ensure the effective organization of the program, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to manage the activities of the expert team; guide the full implementation of humanitarian medical examination and treatment procedures according to regulations and synthesize the report after the program ends.

Departments and branches including the Provincial People's Committee Office, Provincial Police, Department of Education and Training, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Science and Technology, Provincial Youth Union, Provincial Women's Union, People's Committees of communes and wards... are assigned to coordinate propaganda, support procedures, mobilize students and people to bring their children for examination and surgery.

The Provincial People's Committee also requested Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital to arrange facilities, equipment and human resources to serve the program; at the same time, requested the press agencies and media system of the province to step up propaganda to spread the humanistic meaning of the activity.

The program hopes to help many children in Dak Lak access free surgery opportunities, contributing to improving their health, aesthetics and quality of life.
