
Scholar Le Co was born in 1870 in Phu Lam village, Ha Dong district, Thang Binh prefecture, Quang Nam province, now Son Cam Ha commune, Da Nang city. He was a patriotic Confucian scholar with progressive ideas, and was the founder of Phu Lam New School around 1904 - 1905.
Phu Lam Tan Hoc School left many pioneering and profound marks such as introducing the national language into teaching for the first time, valuing practical learning, practical work, and expanding people's knowledge...
Although it only existed until 1908, Phu Lam Tan Hoc School became a symbol of progressive education , closely associated with the cause of "Enlightening the people, strengthening the people's spirit, improving the people's lives" - the great goal of the Duy Tan movement at that time. The reform movement of patriot Le Co spread throughout the villages and communes of Tien Phuoc, Tam Ky, Thang Binh...
In order to encourage students to achieve excellent academic results; at the same time, honor the studious spirit and innovative thinking initiated by patriot Le Co, the People's Committee of Son Cam Ha commune decided to establish the "Le Co Award Fund", inheriting from the "Le Co Scholarship Fund" founded in 2017. After 8 years of formation and development, the Le Co Award Fund has awarded 121 students.
At the ceremony, the People's Committee of Son Cam Ha commune honored and awarded Le Co Prizes to 27 students who achieved high scores in excellent student competitions and excellent graduates at universities.
