(Dan Tri) - Social networks are spreading information that a citizen was "ripped off" by nearly 9 million VND after a medical examination at a private clinic in Quy Nhon Nam ward, Gia Lai province.

On July 7, the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health directed the establishment of a working group to verify information reflecting unusual medical examination costs at a private clinic in the area.

This decision was made after many social media accounts shared information about Phuong Dat General Clinic being accused of "ripping off" patients.

Mr. Le Quang Hung, Director of the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health, shared: "This is information posted on social networks, so it is not possible to determine the truth or falsity of the above incident. However, when there is information, the department will direct the specialized department to verify and clarify. The department's view is that if there is a violation at any level, it will be handled at that level."

The incident originated from a post by Facebook account "Truong Oanh", accusing Phuong Dat General Clinic of charging nearly 9 million VND for a medical examination with unclear fees.

According to the article, on July 5, patient NC visited this clinic with symptoms of nocturia. The clinic asked the patient to pay 30 million VND for a 3-month treatment course.

The patient paid more than 13 million VND but did not receive a receipt. After that, the clinic continued to urge the family to pay an additional 17 million VND.

When the patient's family came to the clinic and did not agree to continue treatment, they asked to pay for the examination fees to leave. However, the clinic only provided general documents such as "treatment fee" 6.2 million VND, "test fee" 800,000 VND, "medication fee" 660,000 VND, making the family upset because they thought they had lost 9 million VND in an unclear way.

Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Vu Thi Duyen, representative of Phuong Dat General Clinic, confirmed the incident but affirmed that the nature was not as reported on social networks.

Ms. Duyen denied that the clinic was "overcharging", explaining that the initial treatment fee of more than 8 million VND was according to the treatment plan committed to the patient.

She said that afterwards, a person claiming to be a patient's relative came and made noise, did not allow the patient to continue the examination and did not cooperate with the work, even filmed and took pictures. The clinic had to invite the ward police to handle the matter.
