To provide tourists with satisfaction and unforgettable experiences, in addition to investing in infrastructure and improving service quality, cultural conduct is considered a crucial key to attracting tourists to the locality and tourist destinations. Recognizing this, localities and tourist destinations in the province have implemented many systematic solutions and approaches to build safe, friendly, civilized, and hospitable destinations.
Tourists participate in experiences exploring the natural landscapes and the lives of local people in Long Coc commune.
Long Coc commune in Tan Son district has tourism potential, thanks to its favorable natural conditions, clean climate, and unique, beautiful landscapes, including breathtaking tea hills shaped like giant green inverted bowls, attracting tourists to capture stunning moments. Recognizing the trend of tourists, especially international visitors who are very interested in eco-tourism, the provincial tourism industry has been incorporating Long Coc into its tour routes; providing basic knowledge about tourism activities; and training households involved in community tourism combined with traditional tea production to diversify tourism products and develop livelihoods for the local people.
Mr. Ha Van Luan, owner of Tony Luan homestay in Bong 1 area, said: “Having participated in training courses from various levels and sectors, we understand that to develop sustainable tourism, we must change the mindset and awareness of those working in the tourism industry. In particular, households providing accommodation services like ours need to focus on environmental protection; ensuring food safety and hygiene. Along with that, we must cultivate a culture of courteous behavior, always creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for tourists, leaving a good impression so that they will recommend, promote, or return to our establishment after their stay.”
Currently, Tan Son district has 44 accommodation establishments with a capacity of approximately 650 guests, including 16 homestays. In 2024, the district is expected to welcome over 40 million tourists to its tourist destinations. To build and affirm its brand and develop in the direction of "Green Tourism," the district has actively implemented many solutions to create attractive, friendly, and safe tourist destinations; established a hotline to receive, resolve, and respond to tourist inquiries; and provided information about tourist destinations and services to visitors.
The district prioritizes ensuring food safety and raising awareness among food producers, processors, businesses, and consumers regarding food hygiene and safety. In particular, the district annually collaborates with relevant departments to organize training courses on developing appropriate behavior and communication in public spaces, commercial etiquette, and traffic safety for those working in the local tourism service industry.
Located nearly 20km from Long Coc, Xuan Son National Park boasts a rich ecosystem with many rare animal and plant species, numerous streams, waterfalls, and caves. Furthermore, the Muong and Dao ethnic groups living in the core area of the National Park have preserved their distinctive cultural features, making it suitable for developing various types of tourism. It is also an ideal destination for young people who enjoy trekking – outdoor recreational activities involving multi-day hikes, mountain climbing, and forest treks.
To cater to the sightseeing and experiential needs of tourists, Xuan Son National Park currently has more than 10 households participating in homestay businesses. Besides the majestic natural landscapes and unique cultural features, the smiles and friendliness of the tourism workers and local people are important highlights that attract and retain tourists to Xuan Son National Park.
Ms. Ha Thi To Nguyet, Deputy Head of the Culture and Information Department of the district, said: “In recent years, community tourism has been developing strongly in communes such as Long Coc and Xuan Son. Many families have renovated or built new stilt houses to serve tourists. To preserve the cultural identity of the ethnic people here, the district has intensified propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage households running homestays to focus on preserving the landscape and cultural space of their ethnic stilt houses. At the same time, we encourage people and households engaged in tourism services to participate in training courses on serving, cooking, welcoming tourists, and building a positive image. Along with that, we actively promote and guide people in preserving and maintaining the traditional cultural features of their ethnic groups in conjunction with tourism development.”
With the goal of building an increasingly civilized, friendly, and hospitable image of Phu Tho, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has determined that in the coming time, it will continue to promote awareness not only among officials, civil servants, sales staff, receptionists, tour guides, etc., but also among all citizens to always greet tourists warmly, smile, and enthusiastically provide necessary information. Along with that, it will actively encourage tourism businesses to improve the quality of existing products and services and develop stimulus packages with incentives, quality commitments, and new tourism products and services oriented towards green, safe, and attractive tourism.
