Việt NamViệt Nam25/02/2025

Over 40 years of construction and development, Song Hinh district has now leveraged its potential, mobilized all resources, overcome challenges, and achieved outstanding results in many fields, gradually improving the quality of life for its people.

Song Hinh District was established on February 25, 1985. Upon its establishment, the district comprised 6 communes with a population of 16,857 people, of which ethnic minorities accounted for 49.5%. The district Party Committee had 16 branches with 146 members. Currently, the district has 10 communes and 1 town with over 3,000 Party members and a population of over 54,000 people.

40 years of construction and development

In its early years, Song Hinh district faced many difficulties and challenges. The district's economy was primarily based on agriculture, and infrastructure serving production and people's lives was severely lacking. Ethnic minority communities still maintained outdated production practices, often lacking food and clothing. Infrastructure was poor, and during the rainy season, transportation and communication between regions were disrupted. Healthcare and education developed slowly, with limited facilities. The workforce of officials, teachers, and medical staff was both insufficient in number and lacking in expertise. Electricity and water supply for production and daily life were inadequate; and the percentage of impoverished and starving households remained high…

In response to the demands for innovation and development, and closely following the leadership and guidance of the central and provincial authorities, the Party Committee, government, and people of Song Hinh district have upheld the tradition of unity and solidarity, working together to overcome difficulties and strive for progress. To date, the total value of production across all sectors in the district is estimated at 11,205 billion VND. Of this, the value of agricultural , forestry, and fisheries production is estimated at 2,006 billion VND; the value of industrial, handicraft, and construction production is estimated at 6,089 billion VND; and the value of trade, services, and tourism is estimated at 3,110 billion VND. Industrial production is gradually becoming a driving force for economic development. Total state budget revenue in the district reached 130 billion VND (a 55-fold increase compared to 2000).

Song Hinh District prioritizes investment in infrastructure development, with a total capital investment of 190 billion VND for the period 2005-2009, and 496 billion VND for the period 2020-2025. To date, the entire transportation system in the district has been largely concreted and asphalted, and inter-commune and inter-village roads have been expanded. The socio-economic infrastructure system has been invested in and upgraded, bringing Hai Rieng town to the level of a type IV urban area and developing Ea Ly commune into a type V urban area. Six out of ten communes in the district have achieved the new rural standard, including three previously poor communes that have now met the new rural standard; one commune has been recognized as an advanced new rural commune, and there are three model residential areas and six model gardens. The poverty rate according to multidimensional criteria has decreased to 4.58%. National defense and security are always maintained. Party building and the political system have seen progress in many aspects…

Let's write new chapters in history.

With the groundbreaking achievements made after 40 years of construction and development, along with the existing potential and advantages, Song Hinh district has a crucial foundation to make breakthroughs and move forward in the next phase. Song Hinh District has been upholding its heroic revolutionary traditions, demonstrating unity, self-reliance, and creativity in learning and labor, determined to implement seven key tasks. These include promoting the conversion to high-economic-value crops and livestock; expanding specialized raw material production areas to serve the processing industry and fruit-growing regions, creating momentum for people to increase their income and become wealthy through agricultural, forestry, and fisheries production. Focusing on mobilizing resources to build a synchronous and interconnected infrastructure; promoting the development of culture, education, and healthcare for the people; and focusing on effectively implementing social security policies, policies for war veterans, and sustainable poverty reduction programs. The goal is to reduce the poverty rate to below 1.5% by 2030...

To achieve the set goals, Song Hinh district has identified the following: Promoting the application of scientific and technological advancements and digital transformation in all fields to effectively meet the requirements of the new situation. Focusing on preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic minorities, eliminating the mentality of dependence and backward customs in ethnic minority areas. Maintaining national defense and security, proactively and promptly combating and thwarting all subversive plots of hostile forces. Strengthening the building and rectification of the Party and the political system to be clean, strong, and comprehensive; promoting democracy and tightening the relationship between the Party and the people…

Building upon the achievements already made, the Party Committee, government, and people of Song Hinh district will continue to unite, innovate, and resolutely overcome all difficulties and challenges, writing new chapters in history, further enhancing the glorious traditions of the mountainous Song Hinh district, contributing to building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized Phu Yen province, and together with the country, steadily advancing into a new era, an era of national progress.

With the achievements attained, the Party Committee, government, and people of Song Hinh district were honored to receive the Third-Class Labor Order (2000), the Second-Class Labor Order (2004), the First-Class Labor Order (2010), and the Third-Class Independence Order (2015) from the Party and State; four communes were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. On this occasion, the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Song Hinh district were awarded the Third-Class Labor Order by the President of Vietnam for their outstanding achievements in developing the agricultural economy in ethnic minority areas.
