While traveling on National Highway 26 ( Dak Lak ), a sleeper bus suddenly braked sharply and stopped to pick up passengers in the middle of the road. This created an extremely dangerous situation.
On the morning of November 20th, in an interview with VietNamNet reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Trong Tuan, Head of the Traffic Police Department of Dak Lak Provincial Police, stated that they were aware of the incident where a sleeper bus driver stopped to pick up passengers in the middle of National Highway 26.
"Currently, the driver is in another province and therefore cannot be questioned. We are determined to strictly handle this action by the aforementioned sleeper bus driver," Mr. Tuan said.
Earlier, at around 8:00 AM on November 19th, a sleeper bus with license plate 47F-00214 belonging to the Be Ha bus company was traveling on National Highway 26, between Buon Ma Thuot and Nha Trang.
After passing Phuoc An town, the sleeper bus slowed down and then stopped completely in the middle of the road at Km34, National Highway 26, to pick up passengers.
The incident caused many cars behind to honk loudly. Some cars couldn't stop in time and overtook on the right. Despite the dangerous situation, the driver and the assistant driver still waited for the two passengers to board the bus.
The behavior of the sleeper bus driver was filmed by bystanders and posted on social media, causing outrage.
Mr. Tran Hung, the driver of a 7-seater car traveling behind (about 100 meters away from the sleeper bus), confirmed that at the time the passenger bus stopped to pick up passengers, there were many vehicles traveling on the road.
According to Mr. Hung, since this section of road has wide shoulders, drivers should pull over because stopping suddenly in the middle of the road like that is too dangerous. If drivers behind don't pay attention, a traffic collision could easily occur.
