Female shop owner fined for collecting plastic cups and throwing them into Ca Ty river

(NLĐO) - In addition to being fined 1.5 million VND, the woman who threw a plastic cup into the Ca Ty River in Phan Thiet City in front of customers was also ordered to pay for the costs of rectifying the damage.

On March 25th, the People's Committee of Lac Dao Ward (Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province) issued a decision to fine the woman who collected and threw plastic cups into the Ca Ty River in front of customers, causing a public outcry.

Accordingly, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Lac Dao Ward fined Ms. D.BV (born in 1979, residing in Duc Long Ward, Phan Thiet City) 1.5 million VND for the act of dumping household waste and plastic waste into the Ca Ty River, as stipulated in Article 25 of Government Decree No. 45/2022/ND-CP.

The decision also ordered Ms. V. to restore the original condition and pay the costs of organizing the remediation efforts.

In addition to fining the owner of the beverage stall for littering, on the evening of March 24th, Lac Dao ward also launched an inspection and crackdown on illegal businesses along the Ca Ty River.

Previously, a video circulating on several social media platforms, which attracted much attention, showed people dumping trash into the Ca Ty River.

According to a video recorded by a customer, the owner of a roadside drink stall along the Ca Ty embankment (Lac Dao ward, Phan Thiet city) collected all the used plastic cups into a plastic bag and threw them directly into the Ca Ty River.

Many people were surprised and outraged by the restaurant owner's behavior.

Previously, in October 2024, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Mui Ne Ward (Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province) also issued an administrative fine of 1.5 million VND against the owner of Jeju Cafe for poor management, allowing employees to dump plastic waste generated from daily activities into the sea.
