Vietnam's export growth to Germany in the first half of the year was significantly contributed by coffee, with exports reaching over US$824.85 million, a 113% increase and accounting for approximately 17.4% of Vietnam's total exports to the German market. The strong increase in Vietnamese coffee exports to Germany occurred amidst record-high export values, driven by a high average export price of over US$5,700 per ton, a more than 59% increase compared to the same period last year. Notably, Germany was Vietnam's largest coffee consumer market in the past six months, accounting for 16.3%; followed by Italy (7.9%) and Spain (7.4%). Vietnam is also Germany's second-largest coffee supplier, after Brazil.
Besides, many other items also achieved good growth, such as exports of computers, electronic products and components reaching over US$551.85 million, up 30%; seafood exports reaching over US$100.5 million, up 6%; cashew nuts reaching US$79.6 million, up 25%; pepper reaching over US$75.44 million, up 57%; fruits and vegetables reaching over US$39.79 million, up 24%; and machinery, equipment, tools and other spare parts reaching over US$701.62 million, up 19%. Notably, there was a resurgence in growth for traditional export items such as textiles (over US$446.11 million, up 22%) and footwear (US$379.55 million, up 2%).
Conversely, imports from Germany also increased by 7.4%, concentrated in items such as machinery, equipment and spare parts, reaching over $688.04 million, up 12%; pharmaceuticals, reaching over $225.50 million, up 38%; computers, electronic products and components, reaching $91.23 million, up 25%...
With the trade volume mentioned above, Germany is currently Vietnam's second largest trading partner in the EU and its 12th largest trading partner globally .
