This afternoon, September 19th, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien, along with relevant departments and agencies, inspected the work of preventing and responding to Typhoon No. 4 and floods in Huong Hoa district.

According to a report from the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in Huong Hoa district, due to the impact of typhoon No. 4 , the district experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, causing disruptions to bridges and culverts on national highways, inter-communal roads, and village roads in some localities.
Specifically, at the spillways in the villages: Coóc (Huong Linh commune), Loa and Trum (Ba Tang commune), Bu village (Tan Lap commune); Lia commune to Xy commune; La La bridge at Km 1+700, DT.587 route to Huc commune; Cheng village (Tan Lien commune); A Doi Co (A Doi commune); Trang Ta Puong village, the new resettlement area of Huong Viet commune and the spillway bridge of Ta Xia village (Huong Loc commune), heavy rain caused water to rise, causing flooding from 0.5 m to 1 m, causing local isolation of some residential areas. DT.586 Provincial Road and the inter-commune road to Huong Linh appeared with minor landslides. The whole district currently has 45 points at risk of landslides, of which 19 points are at high risk of landslides.

Regarding the scenario of evacuating people to a safe place, the leader of Huong Hoa district said that in case of flood warning level 3, the expected number of people needing to be evacuated is 3,589 households/14,395 people; for areas at risk of flash floods and landslides, it is expected that 1,548 households with 6,688 people need to be evacuated.
Currently, the new resettlement area for 32 households from the old Cựp village and hamlet (Hướng Lập commune) is at high risk of landslides, so the local authorities have directed the commune to coordinate with relevant units to encourage and support the residents to move to a safe area.

Conducting a field inspection at the La La spillway area Km 1+700, DT.587 route to Huc commune, Sepon river area in Vinh Dong hamlet, Lao Bao town and inter-commune road to Huong Linh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien requested Huong Hoa district to coordinate with relevant units to strengthen propaganda work, mobilize people to comply with instructions in flood prevention work due to the impact of storm No. 4; Huong Hoa district coordinates with the Provincial Military Command to review locations at risk of landslides to develop immediate and long-term response plans.

For flooded underpasses and culverts, the Department of Transport is urgently installing barriers and deploying personnel to station at both ends of the flooded areas to guide and ensure the safety of passersby.
Huong Hoa district actively directed units and localities to urgently deploy measures to respond to heavy rains and floods, prepare vehicles and forces to evacuate people to ensure safety when situations arise; proactively prepare sufficient supplies of food, foodstuffs, and necessities to be ready to provide enough for people in case of long-term flooding.
