Rice exports increased sharply in both volume and value. |
Specifically, in October 2023 alone, the whole country exported 635,102 tons of rice, equivalent to 406.76 million USD, with an average price of 640.5 USD/ton, an increase of 4.9% in volume, 7.7% in value, and 2.6% in price compared to September 2023.
However, compared to October 2022, there was a decrease of 10.9% in volume but an increase of 19.4% in value and a 34% increase in price.
In October 2023, rice exports to the key market of the Philippines increased sharply by 88.2% in volume and 86.5% in value. However, rice exports to China and Indonesia decreased in volume.
Overall, in the first 10 months of 2023, the country's rice exports reached over 7.05 million tons, equivalent to nearly 3.95 billion USD, an increase of 15.9% in volume and 34% in value compared to the first 10 months of 2022, with an average price of 559.5 USD/ton, an increase of 15.6%.
The Philippines remains the leading consumer of Vietnamese rice, accounting for 37.3% of the total volume and 35.7% of the total value of Vietnam's rice exports, reaching nearly 2.63 million tons, equivalent to nearly 1.41 billion USD, with an average price of 535.2 USD/ton, a decrease of 4% in volume but an increase of 11% in value and 15.8% in price compared to the first 10 months of 2022.
Following that, the Indonesian market accounted for over 14% of the total volume and value, reaching nearly 1.03 million tons, equivalent to 554.63 million USD, with an average price of 539 USD/ton, a sharp increase of 1,710% in volume and 1,908% in value; the price increased by 11% compared to the first 10 months of 2022.
The Chinese market ranked third with 883,967 tons, equivalent to $510.63 million, at a price of $577.7/ton, representing a 16.7% increase in volume and a 33.4% increase in value…
On November 14th, Vietnam's export rice prices continued their sideways trend. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the current export price for 5% broken rice is $653 per ton; the price for 25% broken rice fluctuates around $638 per ton.
