On the afternoon of December 31st, the Traffic Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) reported that on the second day of the New Year's holiday, 47 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, resulting in 12 deaths and 44 injuries.

Also on that day, through patrol and enforcement activities on the roads, the traffic police forces of the local police checked, detected, and handled nearly 7,400 violations; imposed fines totaling over 16 billion VND; temporarily seized 70 cars, over 2,800 motorcycles, and 14 other vehicles. At the same time, the traffic police revoked more than 1,500 driver's licenses of various types.

These violations included nearly 2,200 cases related to alcohol concentration; 9 cases related to drugs; nearly 1,300 cases related to speeding; 87 cases of illegally modified or overloaded vehicles, and 15 cases of vehicles exceeding the permitted size limits.

2,193 drivers were detected and processed for violating alcohol limits.

In addition, through the monitoring and tracking system of patrol teams on highways, the Traffic Police Department detected and handled nearly 120 cases of various traffic violations. On waterways, they inspected, detected, and handled nearly 140 cases of violations, imposing fines of over 150 million VND and temporarily seizing 2 vessels.

On the railway lines, units under the Traffic Police Department coordinate with relevant units to monitor traffic safety and order on the routes under their responsibility.

Previously, on December 30th, 41 road traffic accidents occurred nationwide, resulting in 10 deaths and 40 injuries.
