Hue Central Hospital is Vietnam's first Western-style hospital, established in 1894 by decree of King Thanh Thai.
By 1944, the hospital was officially named Hue Central Hospital. Now, after 130 years of construction, it has become one of the three largest specialized hospitals in the country.
From a single French doctor and a few medical staff, after 130 years of development, Hue Central Hospital now has over 1,800 university and postgraduate staff, including 9 People's Physicians, 143 Excellent Physicians, and nearly 200 professors, associate professors, and doctors...
The hospital has a total area of 35.7 hectares (including 2 facilities) with more than 5,000 beds, many newly built and upgraded infrastructure areas, and nearly 300 types of modern medical equipment comparable to regional and global standards.
Every year, hundreds of new medical techniques are updated and implemented by the hospital's medical staff, thereby improving the success rate of treatment for difficult cases, which consistently reaches high rates nationwide.
With nearly 2,000 successful organ transplants performed, the hospital has become one of the major centers for successfully performing the triple organ transplants of "heart, liver, and kidney," putting Vietnam on the world map of heart transplantation.
Professor Pham Nhu Hiep, Hue Central Hospital, has identified both immediate and long-term goals as ensuring that people have the right to access high-quality healthcare services.
"All the hospital staff and employees remain determined to build the unit into a high-level medical center and a center for training high-quality medical personnel," Mr. Hiep said.
Ms. Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Health, said that with what the hospital's medical staff has achieved, the Party and State leaders believe that in the coming time the hospital will continue to promote the spirit of self-reliance, overcome difficulties to contribute to the development of the country's healthcare.
