On March 22, in Sa Thay district, the Kon Tum extended paragliding competition with the theme " Discovering the great forest - Sa Thay 2024" kicked off.

130 domestic and international paragliding pilots competed. Among them, many pilots came from countries such as China, Korea, and Japan.

At this tournament, pilots compete in two categories: precision landing and XC paragliding.

Notably, the XC paragliding competition has been upgraded to an international competition. Therefore, athletes participating in this event will be awarded points to be able to participate in other international competitions.

Besides the main competition, visitors to Sa Thay this time can also watch Para moto performances (motorized parachutes, flag-raising, smoke-releasing) and cultural and culinary activities on the sidelines.

The tournament will last until March 24.

This event is part of the Kon Tum Cultural Tourism Week 2024 which is taking place.

It is known that this is the third time the paragliding competition has taken place on Sa Thay mountain.

Towards a national paragliding destination

Speaking to the press, Mr. Duong Quang Phuc - Chairman of the People's Committee of Sa Thay district - said that the district is aiming to become a national paragliding destination, by continuously hosting this type of sport.

The event hopes to attract tourists, create opportunities to promote local images, and leverage the development of eco-tourism and nature exploration.
