Students in Binh Lieu District suffered food poisoning after eating unfamiliar candy.

Earlier, at around 3:15 PM on November 27th, several students from Hoanh Mo Secondary and High School bought candy and brought it to class to share. By evening of the same day, all the students who ate the candy showed symptoms of headache, stomach pain, and nausea.

By the afternoon class on November 28th, the students were still experiencing headaches, stomachaches, and nausea.

The students were then taken to a medical facility for examination and health monitoring. One student is still hospitalized for observation.

29 students in Quang Ninh suffered food poisoning after eating unknown candy.

Upon investigation, the school discovered that the students had eaten the same type of candy (with foreign language labels and no Vietnamese translation) at a convenience store on the street near the school gate.

According to a representative of the People's Committee of Binh Lieu District, following the incident, the district's authorities were present at a local resident's shop in front of Hoanh Mo Secondary and High School to conduct an inspection and verification.

At the time of inspection, the store was only selling Vietnamese-made candy with complete labels. Additionally, the seller admitted to selling a few packets of candy to students, purchased from an unidentified individual who was hawking them.

The type of Chinese candy consumed by students in Van Don led to nausea and dizziness, requiring hospitalization.

By the morning of November 29th, the Market Management Team of Binh Lieu District, along with the Binh Lieu District Police, had worked with the school to verify further information to trace the origin of the goods; at the same time, they instructed the school to send samples for quality testing.

Previously, on November 25th, at Cai Rong Town Secondary School (Van Don District, Quang Ninh Province), 126 students also ate strange candy originating from China. Afterwards, 5 students showed symptoms of numb lips, dizziness, chest tightness, and difficulty breathing and had to be hospitalized for health monitoring.

In response to this situation, the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee has directed local authorities to intensify efforts to educate students about the harmful effects of candies and snacks of unknown origin; and has instructed relevant agencies to strictly handle the sale of candies and snacks of unknown origin in the market.
