The sister district relationship between Hoan Kiem District ( Hanoi ), District 1 (Ho Chi Minh City), and Hong Bang District (Hai Phong City) was officially established in 1979. This is an important milestone demonstrating the close ties between these localities after many years of temporary division between the North and South due to war.
On August 2nd, a program was held in Ho Chi Minh City to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the sister district relationship between Hoan Kiem District (Hanoi), District 1 (Ho Chi Minh City), and Hong Bang District ( Hai Phong ).
Attending the event were: Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, former Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Deputy Minister of Public Security , former Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, former Secretary of the Hong Bang District Party Committee; and Ms. To Thi Bich Chau, Vice Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, former Secretary of the District 1 Party Committee.
Also attending were: Nguyen Ho Hai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Tran Kim Yen, Member of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Inspection Committee, former Secretary of the District 1 Party Committee; Pham Thanh Kien, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, former Chairman of the District 1 People's Committee; Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee, along with delegates who are current and former leaders of District 1, Hoan Kiem District and Hong Bang District from various periods.
Recalling the history of the sister-district relationship between the three districts, District 1 Party Secretary Duong Anh Duc said that the sister-district relationship was officially established in 1979. This is an important milestone demonstrating the close ties between the localities after many years of temporary separation of the North and South due to war.
Over the past 45 years, the three districts have successfully implemented the objectives, requirements, content, and principles agreed upon at the initial signing ceremony. Many activities in the spirit of fraternal relations have achieved significant results. The districts have supported each other in constructing several notable projects.
The leaders of the three districts also consistently focused on innovating Party building activities, state management, and the activities of the Fatherland Front and other political and social organizations; they exchanged many experiences in Party member management, exemplary models in land management, urban order, etc.
During the period when the Covid-19 pandemic was developing complicatedly in Ho Chi Minh City, District 1 received attention, encouragement, and support, both material and spiritual, from the whole country, including Hoan Kiem and Hong Bang districts.
District 1 Party Secretary Duong Anh Duc affirmed that the good feelings, friendship, and close ties between the leaders of the three districts have created a ripple effect and also served as a basis for the departments and units of the three localities to establish exchange and fraternal relationships.
At the celebration, representatives from Hoan Kiem and Hong Bang districts also showcased the highlights of their respective localities' development. Witnessing the excellent fraternal relationship between the three districts over the past 45 years, former Secretary of the Hoan Kiem District Party Committee, Nguyen Tien Thang, expressed his hope that the localities would continue to unite and support each other in their activities, especially in training cadres from the three districts who are culturally exemplary, intellectually superior, and deeply compassionate.
