On August 23, the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok said that five Chinese citizens died in a small plane crash that occurred the day before in Chachoengsao province, eastern Thailand.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the crashed plane was a Cessna Caravan C208B, flight number TFT 209, operated by Thai Flying Service company.
The plane lost contact with the Suvarnabhumi Air Traffic Control Center in Bangkok just 11 minutes after takeoff at 2:46 p.m. on August 22. There were 7 passengers and 2 crew members on board.
The condition of the remaining people besides the five people that the Chinese Embassy identified as Chinese citizens who died is not yet clear.
The plane was en route to the southeastern province of Trat when it crashed into a mangrove forest, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.
Initial reports said the plane crashed at around 3:18 p.m. in Bang Pakong district, Chachoengsao province.
Bangkok Post reported that authorities announced that they found pieces of the plane, some women's clothing, and a photo of three foreign women at the crash scene.
