Thai Nguyen University of Technology ( Thai Nguyen University) is a prestigious public university in Northern Vietnam, specializing in engineering disciplines. The university is renowned as a major engineering research center in the Northern Midlands and mountainous region.
The school's predecessor was the Mountain Region Industrial High School, established in 1965. In 1982, it merged with the Viet Bac Technical University to form Thai Nguyen University of Industry.
In 1994, the school officially became a member of Thai Nguyen University and was renamed the University of Industrial Technology (Thai Nguyen University).
The school always prioritizes the quality of education, as demonstrated by the continuous updating and development of its curricula.
Currently, the university offers 21 undergraduate majors with 41 programs, focusing on cutting-edge engineering and technology fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, and Mechatronics.
In particular, to keep pace with technological trends, the school has opened many promising new majors in the 2024-2025 academic year, including: Electric Automotive Engineering and Intelligent Control, Electronics, Semiconductors and Microchips Technology, and Robotics Engineering.
These academic programs are developed based on the actual needs of society, contributing to the provision of high-quality human resources to serve the socio-economic development of the region and the entire country.

In 2023–2024, the University of Industrial Technology completed its second cycle of educational institution quality accreditation.
During the period 2023-2028, the school will meet the requirements of a higher education institution according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training; 100% of its training programs will be eligible for quality accreditation.
Of these, 4 programs were evaluated according to the AUN-QA standards and 11 programs according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. This result affirms the quality of training, strengthens the confidence of students, society, and employers in the context of university autonomy.
Leading in scientific research and community engagement.
In addition to its strengths in education, the University of Industrial Technology is also a reputable center for scientific research.
In the last five years, the university has implemented nearly 1,600 research projects at various levels, with hundreds of international publications listed in ISI/Scopus databases. In 2024 alone, the university had 83 ISI/Scopus publications, 2 patents granted, and 3 patent applications accepted.
Regarding international cooperation, in 2024, the university signed 11 MOUs on cooperation in training, student and faculty exchange, and internships.
Many students and faculty members have had the opportunity to study and exchange ideas in countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, while the university also welcomes international students.
Furthermore, the school always emphasizes its role in engaging with and serving the community. In 2024, the school collaborated with local authorities to donate smart TVs and teaching equipment to many primary and secondary schools in six provinces in the northern mountainous and midland regions.
Sharing his experience of studying in an environment that encourages scientific research, Luong Ngoc Tung, a student in the Automation Engineering program (K58), said: “I participated in a faculty-level research project on the application of IoT in agricultural environmental control. Thanks to the support of the professors and the laboratory, my classmates and I won second prize at the university level. It was a memorable experience that helped me become more confident in my future research direction.”
With its significant contributions to education, scientific research, and the development of high-quality human resources, the school has been honored by the Party and the State with many prestigious titles and awards, such as the title of Hero of Labor during the Renovation Period.
He was awarded the Second and Third Class Independence Orders, the First, Second, and Third Class Labor Orders, along with many other commendations.
These achievements are a vivid testament to the spirit of unity, creativity, and unwavering dedication of generations of faculty, staff, and students of the University of Industrial Technology.
