The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has just announced to all units, schools, and educational institutions in the city the holiday schedule for the 2026 New Year and the 2026 Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) for officials, civil servants, employees, and students.
Accordingly, for the New Year's Day holiday in 2026, officials, civil servants, and employees of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training; kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, high schools, vocational training centers, continuing education centers, etc., will have one day off, on January 1, 2026.
For the Lunar New Year of the Horse in 2026, officials, civil servants, and employees of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training; kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, high schools, vocational training centers, and continuing education centers... will have 5 days off as prescribed. The specific holiday period is from February 16th to February 20th, 2026 (i.e., from Monday, the 29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Snake to Friday, the 4th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Horse).
However, both the days before and after the Lunar New Year holiday fall on weekends. Therefore, students can have a maximum of 9 days off, if they don't have to go to school on Saturday mornings.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training requires all units to thoroughly understand and strictly implement all documents and directives from the Central Government and the city regarding the organization of activities during the New Year and Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) in 2026.
In addition, educational institutions need to strengthen the dissemination of information and education to students on practicing civilized lifestyles, maintaining social order and safety, and traffic safety; strictly complying with regulations on the management and use of fireworks; improving skills in preventing accidents and injuries, avoiding social evils, and ensuring safety, especially safety in cyberspace.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training also noted that, based on actual conditions, units should pay attention to caring for the material and spiritual lives of cadres, teachers, staff, and students; organize thoughtful visits and assistance to policy beneficiary families and those with difficult circumstances, contributing to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a healthy and safe Lunar New Year celebration.
