Opening the third night of Vietnam International Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2024, designer Thuy Nguyen captivated the audience with her collection "Swallows and Swans in Pairs," inspired by the last two lines of "Da Co Hoai Lang."
While still maintaining the traditional ao dai, the designer skillfully incorporated details such as lace trim, as a way to evoke the Lemur ao dai – a creation by artist Cat Tuong that modernized the ao dai in the last century.
These dresses are both traditional and modern, perfectly suited to the vibrant, contemporary lifestyle.
The designer also takes advantage of the strengths of interesting perspectives on color such as white, red, pink… creating a striking, contrasting yet harmonious overall look.
The elegance of the ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) is further showcased through vivid paintings depicting the country's natural landscapes.
Thuy Nguyen also shows subtlety by focusing on eternal love in marriage, offering a blessing to couples through her unique creations.
This is clearly demonstrated by the motifs of birds, phoenixes, along with images of peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, lotus flowers… meticulously hand-embroidered and embellished on these dreamy dresses.
In particular, the performance by the "muse" - runner-up Le Hang, who took on the role of Vedette, delivered a performance with profound impact, taking the audience on a journey of profound and sublime emotions.
The quintessentially Vietnamese beauty of the two beauty queens, representing two different generations of women in modern life, Le Hang and Lam Bich Tuyen, concluded Thuy Nguyen's ao dai collection inspired by the folk song "Da Co Hoai Lang".
