AFF agrees to let Vietnam team change home stadium, My Dinh loses opportunity

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên09/11/2024

Specifically, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) initially planned to choose My Dinh Stadium to host the home matches of the Vietnam team at the AFF Cup 2024. However, the music event "Anh Trai Say Hi" will take place here on December 7, just 8 days before the match between the Vietnam team and Indonesia.

Viet Tri Stadium has quality grass and has been chosen as the venue for many international tournaments.

Organizing the event will certainly make the grass of the field not be guaranteed the best quality. AFF also stipulates that the home field of the participating teams cannot be used to organize events within 3 weeks. VFF has sent a request to change from My Dinh Stadium to Viet Tri Stadium and was approved by AFF. AFF experts also checked the quality of the field here before making the decision.

Thus, Viet Tri Stadium will host many matches of both Group A and Group B. Previously, the Timor Leste team chose this as their home stadium because the stadiums in their country did not guarantee quality.

The Vietnamese team will face Indonesia and Myanmar on December 15 and December 21, respectively, in the 2024 AFF Cup qualifiers at Viet Tri Stadium.

The two matches against Laos and the Philippines on December 9 and 18 will take place away from home.
