The Paris Masters continues to be a "nightmare" for Carlos Alcaraz. The world No. 1 tennis player just suffered a surprising defeat 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 against Cameron Norrie in the second round, ending his impressive 17-match Masters 1000 winning streak. And this defeat makes it likely that Alcaraz will be dethroned as world No. 1 by Jannik Sinner.

The 2025 season was a banner year for Carlos Alcaraz, with eight titles to his name. He came into the Paris Masters on the back of an incredible 17-match winning streak at Masters 1000 tournaments. However, that incredible run came to an abrupt end after a loss to Cameron Norrie.

On the hard courts of Paris, the young Spaniard failed to show his trademark agility and precision. After the match, Carlitos looked confused as he admitted he had absolutely no idea what had happened to his form.

"I came here with a lot of energy, confident that I could play well. I felt healthy and strong, so I really don't understand what happened. Paris is always a difficult tournament for me. But I will find a way to play better here," Alcaraz shared.

This early defeat in the second round is expected to be a big turning point in the race for the world No. 1 position at the end of the year. Now, the door to usurpation is wide open for Jannik Sinner.

If the Italian continues his impressive form and wins the Paris Masters, he will officially surpass Alcaraz to return to the top of the ATP rankings. This is a lot of pressure for the Spaniard.

Despite admitting to the disappointment and difficulty of dealing with the "Paris problem", Alcaraz quickly moved forward with a professional attitude. He set his sights on improving and did not want this poor form to repeat itself.

"I will prepare the best for Turin (ATP Finals) and Davis Cup. I don't want this to happen again," the world number 1 tennis player affirmed.

Alcaraz's rival, Jannik Sinner, will have his opening match against Zizou Bergs at the Paris Masters on the evening of October 29, scheduled to take place at 8pm.
