“The Demon Prince” is a horror-historical film, adapted from the original “The Strange Tales of the Ly Dynasty” by author Phan Cuong. The film opens up a world where forgotten legends come to life, reflecting on greed, desire and obsession in each person.

Set in the Le Trung Hung period, “The Demon Prince” revolves around Than Duc (Anh Tu Atus) - a prince born through witchcraft. Escaping from the forbidden palace, Than Duc ambitiously frees the Crazy Bone Demon from the Human Eye Pass to restore the Crazy Bone Religion. But Than Duc’s plan can only come true when he has all the “ingredients” - the people living in Hui village - where Lo Dat (Luong The Thanh) is the village chief.

At the film's premiere event on December 2, Anh Tu Atus shared that he spent two months filming in Da Lat "locking himself in his room" to nurture the character's personality and depth. From analyzing the image, habits to emotions, he always kept himself in character even when leaving the set. The actor said that when he first read the script, he was worried because of its complexity, but thanks to working with director Tran Huu Tan, he found an emotional anchor, making the "human" part of Than Duc revealed under the cold shell.

Regarding Dieu Nhi's reaction to her husband acting in a horror film and having a "hot scene", the actor shared that the two always read the script together and focused on the psychological journey rather than the sensitive scenes. For him, the character Than Duc in "The Demon Prince" is the type of role that any actor should experience at least once. Besides, Anh Tu Atus explained that he did not sing the OST (film soundtrack) because he wanted to appear as a complete actor.

Artist Binh Tinh said she had temporarily put aside her acting career on the cai luong stage to devote all her time to the project. Although Tue Lieu phu nhan was a “cameo” role, she practiced in front of the mirror for 3 sleepless nights, adjusting her acting style to be more suitable for cinema than cai luong stage.

For Luong The Thanh, after many years of returning to film, he lost sleep when taking on the role of Lo Dat because he wanted to create the most polished image on the big screen. During the filming, he and the crew often discussed to hone each scene. Along with that was the process of tightening muscles, losing weight and following a strict diet to perform the wrestling scene - one of the most physically demanding scenes in the film.

Regarding the issue of box office competition at the end of the year, the “Prince of Demons” crew said that the market is growing rapidly, the number of Vietnamese films is increasing, which means the investment requirements must be larger, and that is no exception for the project. Regarding concerns about the confusing story, director Tran Huu Tan and producer Hoang Quan said that the duo is pursuing the direction of ancient horror, and always believe that the most important thing is to convince the audience with the character's journey instead of pure scare elements.

"Demon Prince" officially hits theaters on December 5, 2025.
