VTV.vn - The global smartphone market is witnessing dramatic changes this year, especially from the recovery momentum of technology giant Apple.

The group is on track to set a new record for smartphone shipments for the entire year, according to research by analyst firm IDC.

According to IDC, Apple could reach a sales volume of more than 274 million phones in 2025, an increase of 6% compared to the same period last year and also surpassing the old record achieved in 2021. In particular, the iPhone 17 series launched in September is considered the main factor contributing to this increase, especially in the Chinese market.

In the fourth quarter, Apple's China sales are expected to grow by 17%, reversing the risk of negative growth for the whole year despite pressure from domestic rivals such as Huawei.

IDC senior research director Nabila Popal also said Apple has reversed its downward trend in many regions, including the US and Western Europe.

However, Apple’s growth could be impacted in 2026 as the company is expected to change its product launch schedule. The iPhone Fold and iPhone 18 Pro are expected to launch in September 2026, while the standard iPhone 18 could be delayed until spring 2027. This adjustment is expected to cause iOS device sales to fall by 4.2% in 2026.

At the same time, the global memory shortage is also predicted to cause the smartphone market to decrease by 0.9%.

IDC predicts the market will recover by 2027, with Apple still leading the pack. The strong sales of the iPhone 17 show the huge impact that Apple's product launches have on the industry, especially when the company only releases a few models a year but is enough to influence market trends.
