According to PhoneArena , the ROG Phone 8 will launch at an event hosted by Asus on January 8th next year. In preparation for this event, the company has shared a glimpse of the product's design, revealing it will feature a new design.

The highlight of the shared image is a completely new camera system being implemented; however, the company is keeping the camera's specifications under wraps. In its post, Asus invites people to participate in a Blind Photo Test, comparing images taken on phones from industry giants. Participants will have the chance to win a highly anticipated gaming smartphone.
While gaming smartphones often prioritize performance over camera quality, Asus promises a significant upgrade to the ROG Phone 8's camera capabilities, revealing the company's new professional camera system. The two previous generations, the ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 7, used the same hardware; however, the ROG Phone 7 leveraged the advanced technology of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to boost its performance.
For example, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, one of the best gaming phones currently available, has a triple-camera system, including a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and an 8MP macro camera. While this setup is sufficient for everyday use, it's not as advanced as the cameras on other high-end smartphones.
With the ROG Phone 8, Asus may be aiming to make its camera system more competitive with other smartphones in the same price range, such as the upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra, which is rumored to feature a high-end camera system, or the Xperia 1 V, which is also positioned as one of the best gaming smartphones. Asus needs to boost its gaming capabilities to remain competitive.
In addition to camera upgrades, the ROG Phone 8 is expected to be equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, ensuring superior performance for gaming and other demanding tasks. Other details about the phone's specifications are still scarce, but we'll learn more in the coming weeks.
