The Ministry of Transport has requested the authorities of Can Tho City to direct relevant units to expedite procedures and complete land compensation and clearance for the construction of the interchange under the Cao Lanh - Lo Te upgrade project by November 2024.
The Ministry of Transport has just sent a dispatch to the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City regarding the acceleration of compensation, support, and resettlement work for the Cao Lan - Lo Te upgrade project.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the project to upgrade the Cao Lanh - Lo Te route in Dong Thap province and Can Tho city to reorganize traffic has been approved with a total length of nearly 29km.
Of that, over 26km passes through Dong Thap province and over 2.64km passes through Can Tho city.
The land acquisition area is only about 2.6 hectares for the complete investment in the Lo Te intersection, located in Vinh Thanh district, Can Tho city. Compensation, support, and resettlement work is separated into a sub-project and implemented by the People's Committee of Can Tho city according to regulations.
"Construction began on April 10, 2024. During the project implementation, the leaders of the Ministry of Transport inspected the site, worked with local authorities at all levels, and issued documents requesting the local authorities to hand over the land in August 2024 to proceed with the construction of the Lo Te intersection."
However, according to a report from the My Thuan Project Management Board (the investor), the implementation of land compensation and clearance procedures is very slow, affecting the progress of construction work to treat weak soil at the branches of the interchange. This may lead to a need to consider changing the weak soil treatment solution, increasing the investment cost for new construction to meet the required progress," the dispatch stated.
The Ministry of Transport announced that the Tenth Conference of the Central Committee of the 13th Party Congress continued to orient the main tasks and solutions to "strive to achieve the goal of having 3,000km of expressways nationwide by 2025".
On August 18, 2024, the Prime Minister launched a high-intensity emulation campaign "500 days and nights of emulation to complete 3,000km of expressways". The Cao Lanh - Lo Te project has been identified by the Ministry of Transport in the list of projects planned for completion in 2025.
To ensure the overall progress of the project, the Ministry of Transport and the competent authorities of Can Tho City continue to pay attention to and direct the departments, agencies, the People's Committee of Vinh Thanh district and related agencies and units to focus on resolving difficulties and obstacles, accelerating procedures, and promptly completing compensation and land clearance at the Lo Te intersection, handing over the entire site to the construction contractor no later than November 2024.
"The Ministry of Transport will direct the My Thuan Project Management Board, consultants, and construction contractors to coordinate closely with relevant departments, agencies, and local authorities to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles in the process of compensation, support, and resettlement," the official dispatch stated.
