GAMA organizers speak up, accusing superstar Jason Derulo of breaching the contract

After the letter explaining the sudden cancellation of the GAMA Music Racing Festival show by superstar Jason Derulo, on the evening of June 30, the organizers of this program posted a response on their fanpage.

This action is seen as a reaction to artist Jason Derulo's failure to comply with the terms of the contract and false statements, seriously affecting the GAMA Music Racing Festival brand.

Beginning its press release, GAMA Music Racing Festival apologized to the audience for any incomplete experiences resulting from the absence of artist Jason Derulo.

In conclusion, the organizers further apologized for the previous press release containing some inaccurate information.

"Show cancellations only happen at times close to the event time, seriously affecting the entire organization and disrupting the spirit and psychology of the staff who are focusing on solving urgent related issues.

Due to the unexpected developments, the internal communications department was passive and led to the release of information that was not fully verified by the management department.

In fact, at the time of the interview, the representative of the organizing committee did not mention the official reason for the absence, and on the official fanpage we also made a similar statement," the press release said.

Artist Jason Derulo breaches contract

According to the organizers, GAMA and artist representative Jason Derulo (Yelo Pte Ltd - Singapore) signed a performance contract from January 2025, with an additional addendum dated May 13, 2025, adjusting the performance schedule to June 28, 2025.

At the same time, co-signed with PULSE - an international artist booking and management unit (which has accompanied many international artists to Vietnam).

On June 28, the GAMA Music Racing Festival took place at Saigon River Park. Jason Derulo and his crew did not show up for the 8am rehearsal that same day.

Just before the performance, Jason Derulo's representative unilaterally announced the cancellation, citing logistical and technical reasons that GAMA had not been informed of in advance, or that had already been fully resolved according to the contract.

After the show, Jason Derulo issued statements on social media, announcing that the show “failed to provide the full set and equipment as requested.”

The GAMA organizing committee explained that they fulfilled all contractual obligations, including: paying 100% of performance fees and any additional charges as per the appendix, providing 5-star hotel accommodation for the entire team for three nights, and ensuring all necessary equipment, logistics, and technical support as per the confirmed list from the artist booking agency, PULSE.

The organizers stated that the unilateral cancellation of the show was a serious breach of contract, causing great financial, reputational and media losses to the program and Vietnamese audiences, because:

"We have been working continuously for many months with PULSE - the booking and contract management unit between the GAMA Organizing Committee and artist representative Yelo - the representative who signed the performance contract with Jason Derulo.

During the entire process, there was never any official notice sent from Yelo or PULSE about not accepting the stage design or equipment list given by the organizer.

Even after receiving notice of show cancellation with general reasons, we immediately responded, requesting clarification on the technical and stage-related allegations.

However, to date, we have not received any response from Yelo or PULSE on this matter.

With all the above factors, we affirm that citing the reason "not meeting technical and staging requirements" to justify the decision to cancel the performance is unfair to the GAMA Organizing Committee as well as thousands of Vietnamese audiences who have been waiting for the artist's appearance."
