The Ultimate is not just an album, but a musical and philosophical journey where people confront inner and outer chaos to find order in their lives. Sharing with Tuổi Trẻ, The Flob explained that the spirit of "order in chaos" is the central theme of both albums.
The opening song, "The Great Triumph," recreates the perilous moment for the nation during the resistance against the Mongol invaders, but thanks to unwavering will, unity, and strategic talent, a new order was created, proving that victory can be built by the people themselves.
Other songs like "Many Stories," "Living Like Z," or "Two Bows to the High Priest" all emphasize an indomitable attitude towards life, disregarding gossip and prejudice, and facing challenges with reason. Even "How Much Fun It Is" (ft. Phùng Khánh Linh), with its melancholic melody but cheerful title, is a prime example.
The Flob shared that the biggest challenge in the production process lay not only in the sound engineering but also in researching and tracing the ethnic culture.
The band spent over three years perfecting the album, both inheriting ideas from their previous album and adding new songs to expand the universe of "Heaven Strikes, Avoid Us." In "Living Like Z," the group drew inspiration from the legend of the five-legged crocodile, Ông Năm Chèo, in the Mekong Delta, recreating the cultural context of the riverine region.
In Lầu lâm ba, the story of Princess An Tư and the historical context of the Trần dynasty are incorporated into epic melodies and rhythms. Đại khải hoàn is a synthesis of many techniques: from electronic music at the beginning, to majestic symphonic rock,
The mischievous mid-tempo metal leading up to the final breakdown creates a sense of surprise and awe, a prelude to the nation's great victory.
The three artists featured in the album—Rhymastic, Phùng Khánh Linh, and Tài Smile—were invited to collaborate to create emotional depth: Rhymastic brings edgy rap energy to Final Form, Tài Smile brings the wit of the Mekong Delta to Living Like Z, and Phùng Khánh Linh transforms "How Fun It Is" into a melancholic yet captivating experience.
