On the evening of August 17th, the final match of the tournament concluded with a 3-2 victory for Italy, securing their third title at the Women's U21 World Volleyball Championship.
Italy has reached the final four times in a row. This shows that Italy possesses a strong volleyball foundation, always having a ready supply of successors. This year's championship is entirely deserved, as the Italian U21 team overcame many strong teams such as Türkiye, China, Brazil, and finally Japan.
Meanwhile, the Japanese runners-up also performed very well in this year's tournament. Up until the final match, they were the only undefeated team. The team from the Land of the Rising Sun has reason to regret their missed opportunities, as they had a great chance to win the championship in the final.
However, a lack of focus and crucial mistakes meant Japan could only finish second. Nevertheless, this is a commendable achievement, considering they finished fourth overall two years prior.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian women's volleyball team finished third for the second consecutive time. Bulgaria also enjoyed success, securing fourth place, a position few believed they would achieve before the tournament began.
Fifth place went to China, the team that won the title in 2023. This year, the Chinese women's volleyball team didn't perform well and were easily defeated 3-0 by Italy's U21 team in the quarterfinals.
With three Southeast Asian teams, they all achieved unexpectedly high rankings. Thailand, in particular, finished in 12th place, three places better than in the previous tournament.
Host nation Indonesia finished 16th overall. However, their result was somewhat fortunate, as the Vietnam U21 team was handed a forfeit loss in all four group stage matches.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, despite missing out on a spot in the round of 16 due to bad luck, still made a strong impression and finished 19th. The Vietnamese U21 team ranked above many teams such as the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Tunisia, Mexico, and Algeria.
