On December 12th, the Dong Thap Provincial Police announced they are continuing the search for the missing boat driver in connection with a waterway accident between a speedboat and a ferry on the Tien River in My Tho Ward, Dong Thap Province.
Earlier, at around 7:15 PM on December 11th, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (45 years old, residing in Long Giang commune, An Giang province) was driving a speedboat carrying Mr. Le Minh Phuc (43 years old, residing in My Tho ward, Dong Thap province) from the Bao Dinh River to the Tien River.
When this speedboat was traveling on the Tien River near Tan Long ferry terminal (My Tho ward), it collided with a ferry boat owned by Mr. Ho Hoang Vu (60 years old, residing in Quoi Son ward, Vinh Long province).
The accident caused the speedboat and ferry to capsize and sink into the river. Mr. Tuan and Mr. Phuc were fortunate enough to swim to shore safely, but Mr. Vu went missing.
Following the accident, the My Tho Ward Police arrived at the scene to coordinate with the Fire and Rescue Police Department and the Road Traffic Police Department of Dong Thap Province to verify the incident, draw up a report, and assist in salvaging the speedboat and ferry.
Currently, rescue teams and the victims' families are urgently searching for the missing person.
