On the morning of December 12th, the People's Committee of Hiep Thanh commune announced that the locality had assisted in relocating many households in Quang Hiep village to a safe area due to landslides in the 35-hectare pine forest area managed by the Duc Trong Protective Forest Management Board.
Simultaneously, houses in areas at high risk of landslides in Quang Hiep village were sealed off.
For the 10 households that refused to relocate, forced removal of people and property to safe locations was carried out during the recent floods.

According to the People's Committee of Hiep Thanh commune, the area in question has been used by residents to build houses for many years. The most serious landslides occurred during the rainy season of 2024, and the local authorities have repeatedly warned of the risk of landslides in this area.
At that time, the 35-hectare hill showed large cracks on its summit, extending for hundreds of meters, as well as landslides that affected several houses in Quang Hiep village.

Following the heavy rains in early December 2025, the landslide situation in the area worsened. On the embankment, soil and rocks continuously slid down, in some places extending hundreds of meters from the hilltop down to the residential area.
As observed on the afternoon of December 11th, the landslide extended for kilometers, from the hilltop outwards, right next to residential areas. In particular, many houses were affected by landslides that encroached on the back of the houses, flooding the kitchens, and even causing parts of the houses to collapse.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Hai (Quang Hiep village, Hiep Thanh commune), a few days ago, soil and rocks from the pine hill behind her house slid down, flowing in a stream and flooding the kitchen of the house where her family has lived stably for over a decade.
Following the incident, the family received assistance in relocating their belongings, and all four members of Ms. Hai's family were moved to temporary accommodation elsewhere.
Currently, even though the rain has stopped, landslides are still occurring, so the whole family doesn't dare return home. Mrs. Hai only hopes that the local authorities will soon come up with a long-term solution to the situation.

Due to the high risk of landslides, the People's Committee of Hiep Thanh commune has drawn up a report and issued a decision to enforce the removal of the landslide, while also sealing off the entire area at risk of landslides to prevent people from returning.
According to the People's Committee of Hiep Thanh commune, the dangerous area is part of plot A, section 5, sub-area 277B. The Duc Trong Protective Forest Management Board determined that the area showing signs of landslides is approximately 1.73 hectares, of which more than 1.1 hectares are degraded forest land, and the remainder is non-forested land.
Local authorities and forest management units have been conducting awareness campaigns and warnings for residents for many years, and have proposed that relevant agencies develop a sustainable landslide prevention plan.

Currently, the entire 35-hectare pine hill area has been cordoned off, warning signs have been posted, and all activities have been temporarily suspended. The People's Committee of Hiep Thanh commune is continuing to coordinate with the technical department and specialized agencies to survey, prepare documentation, and report to the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee for consideration of a comprehensive solution.
