On the morning of December 12th, in Quy Nhon ward, Gia Lai province, Ho Chi Minh City Open University donated 100 million VND to support Gia Lai province in overcoming the consequences of typhoon No. 13. On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City Open University also donated 100 million VND to Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa, and Dak Lak provinces.
Responding to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor, and demonstrating the spirit of "mutual support" and "helping those in need," Ho Chi Minh City Open University has launched a fundraising campaign to support people in Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Dak Lak , and Lam Dong provinces severely affected by storms and floods in November 2025.
Following the fundraising campaign, the school's staff and employees contributed nearly 276 million VND. To provide timely support to flood-affected communities, the Trade Union Executive Committee proposed, and the school's Board of Directors approved, an additional 175 million VND from the school's finances. The total amount donated, reaching nearly 451 million VND, has been transferred to the affected localities through the Vietnam Fatherland Front system in the provinces.
Specifically, the funds were allocated as follows: 100 million VND was transferred to the provinces of Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, and Dak Lak, and the remaining nearly 51 million VND was transferred to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to continue supporting disaster relief efforts in central Vietnam.
Dr. Tran Thanh Danh, representing the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, said: “We wish to contribute a small part to share the difficulties with our compatriots in Central Vietnam, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and solidarity of the staff and employees throughout the university. This is also an opportunity to educate the younger generation about compassion and living responsibly towards the community.”

Speaking upon receiving the donation, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province, Dinh Ngoc Hai, thanked the Ho Chi Minh City Open University for its noble gesture of compassion and joint efforts to help the people of Gia Lai province overcome the damage caused by the floods. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province pledged to use this meaningful support appropriately and effectively.
The practical actions of the staff and employees of Ho Chi Minh City Open University this time further affirm the role of higher education institutions in effectively implementing the Party's policy on promoting national unity, while contributing to spreading profound humanistic values in society.
It is known that Ho Chi Minh City Open University, with its mission to develop a learning society, has for many years collaborated in training human resources for many provinces and cities, including the four provinces mentioned above.
