Hung My, a predominantly agricultural commune with over 75% of its land dedicated to agricultural production, has witnessed significant socio -economic changes in recent years, stemming from the farmers themselves and the close support of farmers' associations at all levels.

This transformation is strongly driven by the trend towards organic production, clean agricultural products, and reduced input costs, along with people shifting from farming based on experience to collaborative business practices. This is a crucial impetus for Hung My to continue striving towards the goal of building an advanced new rural area and creating a prosperous countryside.

When the emulation movement becomes truly effective.

To meet the new demands of the market and ensure sustainable production, the Farmers' Association of Hung My commune has proactively strengthened its organizational system, forming 3 professional associations for vegetable and rice cultivation with 234 members, 19 professional groups, and 5 cooperatives that are operating stably. The association works alongside farmers in providing technical support, capital, and market access, helping farmers to invest more confidently and boldly.

The movement "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" has been widely implemented, attracting over 2,300 households to register each year, of which about 55% achieve the title.

From this movement, the commune has seen more than 30 exemplary members boldly switch to large-scale household economic models or group cooperation to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Highly effective economic models implemented include the vegetable farming model in Ngai Hiep hamlet, ginger cultivation in Rach Giua hamlet, and the model of growing wax coconuts combined with green pomelos, yielding annual profits exceeding 200 million VND.

The association also focuses on developing linkage models and value chains, regularly organizing technical training activities, crop variety conversion, and agricultural product consumption. Many effective new models have emerged, such as the green okra model in Rach Von hamlet and the specialized vegetable cultivation combined with greenhouse farming in Da Hau hamlet.

In particular, the black grape model in Qui Nong B hamlet, covering an area of 4.5 hectares, has a total investment of over 1 billion VND, of which 300 million VND is startup capital from the Social Policy Bank. These models are being considered for expansion if they continue to receive support in terms of technology and market access.

The Farmers' Association also collaborated with Phuoc Hao Agricultural Cooperative to implement a project on producing high-quality rice with reduced emissions on an area of 50 hectares, involving 46 households, achieving a yield of 6.5-7 tons/ha, helping farmers feel secure in maintaining and expanding the model.

Thanks to this support, many members have changed their traditional farming methods, chosen suitable varieties, and achieved stable and significantly improved incomes.

Working together to build a new rural area.

Along with developing production, the Hung My Farmers' Association members play a core role in building new rural areas. During the 2020-2025 term, the people voluntarily donated more than 16.3 hectares of land to open roads, and along the O Quao canal bank alone, 50 households donated an additional 8.5 hectares to widen the road surface, facilitating travel and the transportation of agricultural products.

Thanks to community consensus, the commune has built and upgraded 8 rural bridges and installed solar-powered streetlights, with a total mobilized fund of over 1.8 billion VND and hundreds of man-days of labor. The construction of 2 new bridges across the Xang canal has resolved the issue of dilapidated temporary bridges, creating favorable conditions for people to confidently engage in production and trade.

Responding to the "National Unity for Building a Culturally Rich Life" movement, the entire commune has 4,315 members registered to build culturally exemplary families, with over 95% achieving the title. The commune's Farmers' Association, together with the Fatherland Front and other organizations, has mobilized resources to build 13 solidarity houses to support poor and near-poor households facing housing difficulties, with a total cost of over 650 million VND.

Social welfare activities have also been expanded; to date, the commune has 4,095 members participating in health insurance, reaching 95% of the total number of members, and 22 members participating in voluntary social insurance, fulfilling the annual target.
