International press admires Vietnam's world championship of Sepak Takraw

(Dan Tri) - The Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team won the women's 4-a-side event at the World Championship for the King's Cup. This title made the media everywhere admire.

The Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team won the championship in the above event by defeating the representative of the world's number one Sepak Takraw powerhouse Thailand, right on Thai soil on July 27.

A day after our girls defeated Thailand's 4-person sepak takraw women's team, yesterday (July 28), Siam Sport, a newspaper in the Land of the Golden Temple, wrote: "Thai sepak takraw needs to pay attention to the 4-person event, because many countries have been able to defeat Thailand in this event."

“At the recent World Championship held at the Hat Yai Mall Gymnasium (Songkhla, Thailand), host Thailand won 5/7 Gold Medals. There were two events that Thailand could not win: the women's 4-person event and the men's 4-person event,” Siam Sport added.

Thailand's leading sports daily pointed out that the opponent who defeated the home team members in the above events was the Vietnamese sepak takraw team.

Siam Sport shared: “In the men's 4-man event, the Thai team was unexpectedly defeated by the Vietnamese team in the semi-finals with a score of 0-2. Thailand only won a third-place position.”

“In the women’s 4-a-side event, the Thai team once again lost to their traditional rival, the Vietnamese team, in the final match, with a score of 1-2. This is the second time the Thai women’s team lost to the Vietnamese women’s team in the event this year.

Meanwhile, the homepage of this year's world championship shared the emotions after the Vietnamese women's team won the championship: "The Vietnamese team defeated the Thai team in the women's 4-a-side event."

“The Vietnamese girls returned to the world championship. This time, the Vietnamese women's team succeeded right at the stadium in Hat Yai, Songkhla province, Thailand. Congratulations to the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team,” the tournament's homepage added.

The fact that the Vietnamese team defeated Thailand in both the men's 4-a-side and women's 4-a-side events was also highly appreciated by the Malaysian press. Many Malaysian newspapers such as Bernama and Astro admired our above achievements, especially in the context that the Malaysian team could not go all the way to the end of the surprise.

Malaysia's Bernama news agency commented: "The dream of Malaysia winning the world championship has yet to come true, as Malaysia lost to arch-rival Thailand in the final of the men's team event with a score of 0-2."

That shows that Malaysia regrets that their team could not do the same thing that the Vietnamese sepak takraw team just did, which is defeat Thailand.
