In the final match of Group C in the SEA Games 33 football tournament, the Indonesian U22 team entered the game under pressure to win by a margin of 3 goals against the Myanmar U22 team to secure a place in the semi-finals.

Despite their best efforts in the final minutes of the match, the Indonesian U22 team had to reluctantly exit the tournament after a 3-1 victory over the Myanmar U22 team.

With this victory, U22 Indonesia earned 3 points, the same as U22 Malaysia in Group B. However, U22 Indonesia had an inferior goal difference, so they had to accept defeat and were eliminated.

Specifically, the U22 Malaysia team qualified for the semi-finals as the best-performing second-placed team in their group. Although they had the same number of points, U22 Malaysia advanced due to their superior goal difference (4 compared to Indonesia's 3).

Having squeezed through a narrow gap, the Malaysian press clearly showed their joy and excitement. The country's major newspapers unanimously expressed their delight at the unexpected "rescue" of their team.

Malaysian newspaper Berita Harian reported with a relieved tone: "The Malaysian U22 team can breathe a sigh of relief after being confirmed to have qualified for the semi-finals of the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand." Meanwhile, The Star had a direct headline: "Malaysia reaches the semi-finals thanks to Indonesia."

Notably, the New Straits Times ran a headline that read, "Malaysia sends thanks to Indonesia and Myanmar." Furthermore, this renowned newspaper didn't forget to emphasize the element of luck: "Malaysia sought 'outside help' to secure a place in the SEA Games football semi-finals. And today they received it."

Following the final matchday of the group stage on the evening of December 12th, the men's football tournament at the 33rd SEA Games has determined the two semi-final pairings: U22 Vietnam vs. U22 Philippines and U22 Thailand vs. U22 Malaysia.
