
On the afternoon of October 13, the leader of the People's Committee of Dien Lam commune ( Khanh Hoa province) said that the authorities had captured a crocodile in the Cho river area, suspected of attacking people 5 days ago.
Specifically, at around 3:00 p.m. the same day, after receiving a report from the people, the police force quickly approached the scene and coordinated with the people to catch the crocodile. The animal caught was a female, weighing about 80 kg, more than 2.6 m long; the species has not yet been determined. The commune police are coordinating with relevant units to continue investigating and handling the case.

Earlier, on the morning of October 8, a resident was suspected of being attacked by a crocodile in the Cho River area, Xuan Trung village. The victim was lucky to escape to shore and received first aid at the medical station.
Immediately after receiving the news, the Dien Lam commune authorities sent forces to cordon off the area and warn people not to go near the river and lagoon areas, especially the Cho river section where the incident occurred.
During this time, there was heavy rain in the commune, the Cho River rose high and flowed rapidly, making the search difficult.
The police also determined that the crocodile suspected of attacking people in the Cho River area did not escape from Nhan Tam - KAHO Tourist Area. Inspection at this tourist area showed that two freshwater crocodiles were being kept in captivity; with full legal documents, ensuring regulations on safe keeping.
