Completed repair of 110kV underground cable Ha Tien - Phu Quoc

On the morning of December 6, An Giang Electricity Company announced that it had completed the repair of the 110kV underground cable line Ha Tien - Phu Quoc, completely restoring power supply to people in Phu Quoc special economic zone earlier than expected.

Accordingly, the leader of An Giang Electricity Company said that at 10:42 p.m. on December 5, Southern Power Corporation and An Giang Electricity Company coordinated with related units to successfully energize the 110kV overhead line, fix the broken 110kV underground cable Ha Tien - Phu Quoc, and restore power supply in Phu Quoc special zone.

The leader of An Giang Electricity Company added that the initial plan was to have the units fix the problem by December 10. However, after 5 days and nights of hard work and overcoming the weather, the electricity workers were able to shorten the time to restore power to the islanders.

Workers worked hard day and night to fix the problem.

After restoring power supply, An Giang Electricity Company continued to coordinate with relevant units to repair the damaged cable section, returning it to its original condition.

The power outage affected about 30,000 households.

As reported by Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, at 1:15 p.m. on November 29, the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc submarine cable supplying power to the 110kV Phu Quoc transformer station had an incident causing a widespread power outage including the areas of Duong Dong, Cua Can, Cua Duong, Ham Ninh and the entire North Island. The power outage affected about 30,000 households.

After restoring power supply to Phu Quoc special economic zone, the electricity industry will continue to repair the damaged cable section, returning it to its original condition.

According to initial verification, the cause of the incident was that Thuan Thanh KG Construction Design Consulting Co., Ltd. (the construction unit of the Coastal Axis Road Project to the center of Ha Tien City) drove steel piles in the cable route safety corridor, about 300-400m from the shore, leading to a broken underground cable.

Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung has requested relevant departments and branches to clarify the responsibilities of the organizations and individuals causing the incident and report to the Provincial People's Committee for strict handling. In case of signs of criminal violations, the case must be transferred to the police for investigation according to regulations.
