On December 12, Mang Yang District Police (Gia Lai) said that the authorities are detaining Truong Quang Hung (born in 1952, residing in Ward 8, Ca Mau City, Ca Mau Province) to investigate the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

According to the investigation of Mang Yang District Police, from October to December 2022, when he learned that Ms. T.'s son (residing in Ayun Commune, Mang Yang District) was being investigated and prosecuted by Quang Binh Provincial Police for "Organizing illegal use of drugs", Truong Quang Hung "bragged" that he was a journalist, knew many leaders across the country, and could take care of "fixing the case" for Ms. T.'s son.
After a while, Hung gained the trust of Mrs. T. and she gave him 550 million VND to "lobby" to take care of her son. However, Hung took all the money and fled.

Immediately after receiving the case, the Investigation Police Agency, Mang Yang District Police urgently verified and clarified the case. However, the subject Truong Quang Hung left his residence and continuously changed his residence in many provinces and cities.
After nearly 2 years of searching, on December 9, 2024, Mang Yang District Police successfully arrested Truong Quang Hung, who is currently hiding in De Gol village, Dak Jrang commune, Mang Yang district.
According to Mang Yang District Police, Truong Quang Hung was sentenced to 36 months in prison by the Hanoi People's Court for "Fraudulent appropriation of property" in 2001.
