On the morning of May 27th, according to information from the District 12 Police (Ho Chi Minh City), the unit has just opened a case file and taken statements from Le Thanh Doan (37 years old, from Hanoi ; temporarily residing in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City) to prosecute him for the crimes of human trafficking, trafficking of persons under 16 years of age, and unlawful detention.
Previously, the Criminal Police Team of District 12 Police Department established a special case of human trafficking in early December 2022. The police rescued 11 girls, including one as young as 14, who were being held captive and forced into prostitution to pay off debts.
Le Thanh Doan at the time of his arrest by the police.
In this case, Le Thanh Doan was identified as having purchased a total of 5 girls for 140 million VND, bringing them to Ho Chi Minh City and forcing them into prostitution to pay off debts.
After falling into Đoàn's hands, the girls were taken to work at the bar every day but received no wages. The reason was that all unreasonable debts were deducted, such as transportation costs, fines, gasoline expenses, and employee salaries.
However, Doan managed to escape the intense pursuit of the police. On May 16th, the Criminal Investigation Department of District 12 Police issued a special wanted notice for Doan.
Recently, the District 12 Police discovered that Doan was hiding in Tan An City ( Long An Province), so they dispatched a secret task force to the area to lie in ambush and arrest him.
At 11 PM on May 25th, detectives from the Criminal Police Team raided a guesthouse in Ward 3 (Tan An City), arrested Doan, and escorted him to the headquarters for investigation.
During questioning at the investigative agency, Doan confessed that he had been hiding in many places and doing various jobs to avoid detection and arrest by the police.
