At exactly 6:00 a.m. on September 30, the PMP 60T pontoon bridge temporarily replacing Phong Chau bridge, installed by Brigade 249 (Engineering Corps), officially opened to traffic.

Brigade 249 is assigned to coordinate with local forces and authorities to directly operate and manage the overpass and ensure safety for people and vehicles traveling across the pontoon bridge.

Officers and soldiers of Brigade 249 regularly inspect and patrol the bridge to control traffic and ensure safe and smooth traffic.

Brigade 249 mobilized forces with 12 units, including: Command; technical inspection; bridge rescue team; river obstacle handling team; canoe and tug team; bridge guard and guidance team; rescue team; repair team; wharf access and access road handling team; upstream monitoring unit (using speedboats); downstream monitoring unit (using canoes)... to regularly monitor, inspect and ensure technical safety of the pontoon bridge.

For those who are not used to using pontoon bridges, soldiers help bring people's vehicles safely ashore.

The expected traffic time across the bridge is from 6am to 10pm every day. At the same time, the pontoon bridge operator will organize to cut the bridge for water vehicles to circulate every day from 10pm the previous day to 5am the following day. During the time from 5am to 6am every day, engineers will proceed to connect the bridge.
