Ministry of Transport responds to proposal to upgrade National Highway 40B through Quang Nam

According to the planning, National Highway 40B through Quang Nam province is 139km long, level III scale, 2-4 lanes, said the Ministry of Transport.

In which, the section connecting Bac Tra My district, Nam Tra My district (Quang Nam province) with Tu Ma Rong district ( Kon Tum province) is about 45km long, currently in grade V mountainous condition, 2 lanes.

Voters in Quang Nam province petitioned voters to upgrade National Highway 40B from Bac Tra My district to Nam Tra My district (Quang Nam province) to ensure convenient traffic for people (illustrative photo).

The Ministry of Transport agrees with the proposal of voters of Quang Nam province on the necessity of investing in National Highway 40B connecting Bac Tra My and Nam Tra My districts with Tu Ma Rong district to meet transportation needs, support socio-economic development, and ensure national defense and security in the region.

However, due to resource difficulties, it is not possible to arrange capital to invest in the route in the period 2021 - 2025.

"The Ministry of Transport acknowledges the voters' recommendations. In the process of developing a medium-term public investment plan for the 2026-2030 period, based on the ability to balance resources and capital allocation principles according to regulations, the Ministry of Transport will consider reporting to competent authorities to invest in this route," the Ministry of Transport added.

In the immediate future, the Ministry of Transport has assigned the Vietnam Road Administration to strengthen inspection and maintenance of National Highway 40B to ensure safety and convenience for vehicles participating in traffic.
