The final day of the men's SEA V.League 2025 competition saw the clash between Vietnam and the Philippines, two teams that no longer had a chance to compete for the championship in the second leg. However, the match was not without its appeal, both teams were determined because whoever won would most likely win the silver medal, while the losing team would finish 4th overall.
The drama quickly escalated right from the opening moment of the match, with both teams constantly chasing each other for points. The difference only began to appear when coach Tran Dinh Tien used a formation with two liberos Trinh Duy Phuc and Cao Duc Hoang both coming onto the field to help the team's setter become more stable.
The biggest highlight in the first set of the Vietnamese team was the extremely effective blocking, the Vietnamese team had 17 blocks, including important blocks. It was also the double blocking situation of Ngoc Thuan and The Khai that helped the Vietnamese team score the decisive point, bringing a 25-23 victory in the first set.
Entering the second set, the scenario did not change as the two teams continuously exchanged points, but this time the Philippines was the team that took the lead thanks to good blocking by Ngoc Thuan and Quoc Du.
Although there was a time when the opponent led by 6 points, the Vietnamese team still played with determination. Coach Tran Dinh Tien continuously made substitutions when Thanh Hai, Quan Trong Nghia, Van Hiep were sent onto the field and helped the boys in red to narrow the gap. However, the Philippine attack with Leo Ordiales, Disquitado and Michaelo Buddin knew how to shine at the decisive moments to help their team win 25-21.
Different from the dramatic developments of the first two sets, the Vietnamese team entered the third set with greater determination and a superior game. The two attackers Ngoc Thuan and Van Hiep "heated up" and continuously brought in points. The harmony of the trio playing for Border Guard, Ngoc Thuan, Van Hiep and setter Dinh Van Duy, was maximized to completely decode the Philippines' block, bringing home a 25-17 victory.
Despite pulling themselves together and tightening their defense in set 4, coach Angiolino Frigoni could not find a way to stop the two excellent "guns" Van Hiep and Ngoc Thuan. With the varied play of setter Dinh Van Duy, the Vietnamese team did not give their opponents any chance in set 4 and won 25-16. Ngoc Thuan continued to play the leading role with 25 points, Van Hiep entered the field at the end of set 2 and also brought home 13 points.

More importantly, this victory helped coach Tran Dinh Tien and his students get 8 points, most likely to finish the second stage with a silver medal.
