Picasso's Still Life with Missing Guitar
According to information from The Guardian and ABC News , the painting titled Still Life with Guitar , created by Picasso in 1919, is one of the typical works of the early stage of Cubism.
Although only about 12.7 x 9.8 cm in size, the painting is considered by experts to have special artistic and collectible value, and is insured for more than 650,000 USD.
The work was sent from a private collection in Madrid to the CajaGranada Foundation Cultural Center , where it was scheduled to be displayed in the exhibition "Still Life: The Eternity of the Inanimate" ( Bodegón: La eternidad de lo inerte ), which opened in early October.
However, when museum staff opened the package to check on October 6, the painting was no longer in the package as originally sealed.
The transport vehicle reportedly stopped overnight in the town of Deifontes , near Granada, before reaching the delivery point.

In 1997, a gunman stormed an art gallery in central London and stole Picasso's Tête de Femme painting worth more than £500,000, which was later recovered.

Pablo Picasso's painting Woman's Head was also stolen.
This was considered unusual, as the journey from Madrid to Granada only took about 4-5 hours. In addition, some of the containers were not properly numbered and counted, causing a delay of several days in discovering the loss.
The Spanish National Police, specifically the Cultural Heritage Crime Unit (Brigada de Patrimonio Histórico), has launched a full investigation. The painting is now listed in an international database of stolen works of art.
According to the CajaGranada Foundation , the exhibition organizer, all insurance and security procedures were carried out in accordance with regulations.
However, they admitted that the handover process between the parties may have had "technical errors".
The museum said it is working closely with police and insurance agencies to clarify the cause.
The incident has once again raised concerns about security in transporting artworks in Europe.
Many similar disappearances have occurred, including works by Van Gogh, Matisse and Degas, most of which remain unaccounted for.
