TPO – There is still more than a month to go until the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, but the Tet atmosphere has begun to appear on the streets of Vinh city, Nghe An . Pots of pomelos laden with fruit, mini kumquats, etc. are displayed by garden owners, serving the early Tet shopping needs of the people.

For over a week now, Mr. Nguyen Canh Dung (owner of a flower and ornamental plant shop on Le Nin Street) has been transporting ornamental grapefruit pots from Hung Yen province to Vinh city (Nghe An) to sell for Tet. The ornamental grapefruit trees are over 2m tall, full of fruit, and are placed in brick and stone pots with very aesthetic designs.

“The price of a pomelo tree depends on the size of the trunk, the number of fruits and the age, ranging from tens of millions to hundreds of millions of dong. This type of bonsai is quite picky and is only for agencies, businesses, or houses with large spaces,” Mr. Dung shared.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha “closed” on buying a pomelo tree for 35 million VND. “I bought it to display at my office. Buying early makes it easier to choose a beautiful, satisfactory pot, and the price will also be “softer” than near Tet,” Ms. Ha said.

Grapefruit is quite easy to care for, when ripe the fruit has a fragrant smell, and can be enjoyed until April of the following year.

Ms. Nga, the owner of a flower garden in Nghi An commune, Vinh city, said: “This year, due to the impact of storm No. 3, the quantity of kumquat has decreased, causing prices to increase, even double compared to last year. I imported about 70 pots of kumquat since the 15th day of the 11th lunar month, and have sold half of them so far.”

Kumquat can be played for several months, that's why, even though Tet is still more than a month away, many people still "spend money" to buy it to play Tet early.
