On April 13th, at the Tuan Chau International Tourist Area (Quoc Oai District, Hanoi), the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a gathering of female diplomats, wives of ambassadors from various countries, and members of the diplomatic corps for 2024.

Attending the event were Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and his wife Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, Honorary Chair of the ASEAN Women's Community in Hanoi (AWCH), along with nearly 500 delegates including current and former leaders of the Ministry, Ambassadors, former Ambassadors, leaders of units within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives from central and local departments, ministries, and agencies; Ambassadors, Heads of representative offices of international organizations, Chargé d'affaires and their spouses, and female staff of the Diplomatic Corps in Hanoi.
With the theme "Rediscovering the Cultural Space of the Đoài Region," many unique features of Northern Vietnamese culture were introduced to international friends. This is the ancestral land of the ancient Vietnamese people and ancient Vietnamese civilization, witnessing the formation and development of the first Vietnamese states.

Here, diplomats and their spouses can experience and explore the culture of the Red River Delta, the cultural center of Northern Vietnam; inaugurate the Diplomatic Garden, plant trees to contribute to preserving and conserving this ancient cultural land of Vietnam; experience folk games, immerse themselves in a traditional Northern Vietnamese market, journey back to the culture of water puppetry; and enjoy the finest traditional cuisine of the three regions of Vietnam…
According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, culture is the soul of every nation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has organized many programs to introduce and exchange culture, such as: the International Food Festival - showcasing the culinary essence of various regions in Vietnam; the "Following the Traces of Vietnamese Silk" program, introducing the thousand-year-old Vietnamese silk culture... These activities help international friends experience Vietnamese culture, thereby better understanding and loving Vietnam, and further strengthening the solidarity between Vietnam and its international friends.

“Exploring the Cultural Space of the Đoài Region” is the opening event for subsequent activities in 2024 aimed at connecting diplomatic corps members with each other and with Vietnamese diplomats, former diplomats, and other Vietnamese friends. This is also the first activity Vietnam is implementing in accordance with the United Nations Resolution on the International Day of Fun (June 11th), which was recently adopted by the UN General Assembly on March 25th. Vietnam, along with five other countries, is a co-author of the Resolution.
Speaking on behalf of foreign diplomats in Vietnam, the first female Ambassador of Romania to Vietnam, Ms. Cristina Romila, stated that the program helps promote the role not only of women in general but also of female diplomats in their work and daily lives. Ms. Cristina Romila assessed that Vietnam has made progress in empowering and improving the capacity of women.
On April 13th, the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd Vietnam Yosakoi Festival and the Vietnam-Japan Cultural Festival 2024 took place at Aeon Mall Ha Dong (Hanoi). Here, 24 Yosakoi teams with nearly 900 dancers participated in performances, aiming to bring the traditional and vibrant dances of Japan closer to the Vietnamese public. |
Taking place from the end of March to August 15th, the "Vietnamese Cultural Space" exhibition, held at the George Mason University (GMU) Library in Virginia (USA), showcases items deeply rooted in traditional Vietnamese culture, such as bronze drum models, the Khue Van Cac pavilion, ao dai costumes, Chu Dau pottery, lacquerware, and rattan and bamboo crafts. |
