In recent days, Nha Trang beach area has seen big waves, strong winds, and rough seas, posing many potential safety risks to residents and tourists when participating in activities at sea, especially swimming. The rescue team of Nha Trang Bay Management Board has banned warning signs in areas with big waves and strong currents along Tran Phu - Pham Van Dong coastal park.
To ensure the safety of tourists and the community, the Nha Trang Bay Management Board has issued a document requesting relevant localities and units to coordinate in implementing a number of emergency measures. Specifically, the People's Committee of Nha Trang Ward and the People's Committee of Bac Nha Trang Ward have stepped up propaganda, reminding residents and tourists not to swim in the sea when there are warnings of danger; proactively providing information on loudspeakers and local social networks about weather and rough sea conditions so that residents and tourists can promptly grasp them.
Businesses, accommodation establishments and hotels along the coast are also requested to inform and advise visitors about dangerous weather conditions and not to swim in the sea during rough seas and big waves. At the same time, coordinate with rescue workers of the Nha Trang Bay Management Board in informing and warning, reminding people and visitors to comply with safety warning signs in the beach area.
According to records on the afternoon of October 29, Nha Trang sea area often has waves 1-2m high, hitting the shore strongly, posing a potential safety risk to residents and tourists. Nha Trang Bay Management Board has posted "No swimming" signs in four languages: Vietnamese, English, Russian and Korean in many locations, and also placed warning signs "High waves can cause injury". However, there are still some residents and tourists, including children, who are careless and swim without wearing life jackets, forcing rescue forces to continuously patrol and remind to ensure safety.
Speaking to VNA reporters, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Captain of the Rescue Team of Nha Trang Bay Management Board, said that the team arranges forces to be on duty from 5:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. every day, carrying out patrol, rescue and relief missions along 7 km of beach. According to Mr. Hung, the rough sea season usually lasts from the 9th lunar month to the Lunar New Year, during which time there are often big waves and strong winds, so people and tourists need to strictly follow the warnings, instructions and reminders of rescue workers to ensure safety.
Since the beginning of October, the Nha Trang Bay Management Board's Rescue Team has detected and promptly rescued many cases of drowning while swimming in the sea, especially foreign tourists. Most recently, on the morning of October 27, an 82-year-old man was hit by large waves while swimming at the Nha Trang Ward Park beach, leading to exhaustion. Rescuers quickly detected, approached and brought the victim to shore for first aid, then transferred him to the hospital for further treatment. Previously, on October 16, 18, 19 and 22, there were drowning cases where the waves swept away from the shore and the victims were fortunately rescued in time.
The above incidents show the potential dangers from bad weather and big waves, therefore, Nha Trang Bay Management Board recommends that people and tourists strictly follow safety warning signs and instructions from rescue forces to ensure their health and lives.
