Cao Bang handles smuggling on social networks

On June 26th, the Cao Bang Provincial Market Management Department announced that, in the first six months of 2024 alone, its units handled 25 smuggling cases, imposed administrative fines totaling nearly 100 million VND, and confiscated and ordered the destruction of numerous seized items.

More specifically, the unit also uncovered 14 cases where individuals exploited the environment and platforms of e-commerce and cyberspace to promote and trade smuggled goods of unknown origin.

Recently, on June 18th, Market Management Team No. 1 issued a decision to fine TVD business (address: No. 45, Resettlement Area 3, Group 1, De Tham Ward, Cao Bang City) 15 million VND for failing to register changes to its Business Registration Certificate with the district-level business registration authority within 10 days of the change.

This business also used the previously notified symbol on its e-commerce website for selling goods without prior approval or confirmation from the competent state authority as required by law.

Another incident occurred in March 2024, when Market Management Team No. 5 conducted a surprise inspection of a milk business located in Song Bang Ward, Cao Bang City, owned by Ms. MTTH, who regularly used the Facebook account MTH to post sales information.

During the inspection, authorities discovered that Ms. H's store was selling 20 different types of foreign-made powdered milk products without invoices or documents proving their legal import origin. The value of the infringing goods, based on the store's listed price, was 26.1 million VND. Authorities subsequently fined the business 16 million VND for selling smuggled milk on the Facebook social media platform.

Since the beginning of the year, the Market Management Department of Cao Bang province has detected and handled 198 administrative violations in the business of buying and selling goods.

The violations mainly involved pricing, price listing, food safety violations, selling goods of unknown origin, smuggled goods, etc., with over 1.2 billion VND collected for the state budget.
