Phong Chau pontoon bridge in service throughout New Year's Eve

The Phong Chau floating bridge ( Phu Tho province) will remain operational throughout New Year's Eve to serve people celebrating the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake.

The Engineering Corps ( Ministry of National Defense ) has just announced that it will maintain the operation of Phong Chau pontoon bridge from 9:00 p.m. on January 28 (ie December 29, year of Giap Thin) to 5:00 a.m. on January 29 (ie the first day of the Lunar New Year, At Ty 2025).

This aims to facilitate residents of Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts (Phu Tho province) to cross the pontoon bridge to celebrate the Lunar New Year and welcome the New Year.

Vehicles are crossing the Phong Chau pontoon bridge.

During this time, inland waterway vehicles will be temporarily not allowed to pass through the Phong Chau pontoon bridge area to ensure traffic safety and pontoon bridge operation.

On other days, the bridge operates from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, according to previously issued regulations.

Phong Chau pontoon bridge was installed by the Corps of Engineers from September 30, 2024, after the collapse of Phong Chau bridge span on the morning of September 9, 2024.

The pontoon bridge was installed about 400m downstream from the collapsed Phong Chau bridge, making it easier for people in Tam Nong, Thanh Thuy, Lam Thao districts and Viet Tri city to travel, without having to detour via Ngoc Thap bridge, which is 40-50km away.

The new Phong Chau Bridge is currently under construction by the 12th Army Corps (Ministry of National Defense).
