Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh - Vice Chairman of Chu Pah District People's Committee informed: From 2022 to now, the whole district has had 8 children die due to drowning accidents. There are many reasons, but the most common reason is that children do not know how to swim and do not know how to handle situations when playing near ponds, lakes, streams... Along with that, the lack of attention and supervision of adults allowing children to freely play in dangerous areas is also a risk of drowning. Moreover, in the living environment of each family, in addition to the community, there are many potential risks of drowning such as dry wells that are not used but have no lids, lakes dug by people to serve production but have no warning signs, no fences...
To reduce the number of children drowning, popularizing swimming and knowledge and skills to prevent drowning for children is an urgent solution. In addition, the whole population needs to regularly practice swimming safely and effectively to improve health. Ponds, lakes, and streams must have warning signs and fences to minimize the number of children drowning in Chu Pah district.
It is known that since 2017, Chu Pah district has invested in building 4 artificial swimming pools at primary schools, including Nghia Hung Primary School No. 2, Ia Nhin Primary School, Ia Ka Primary School and Ia Phi Primary School. Since then, the swimming pools have enrolled 48 classes, granting certificates to more than 1,000 students.
