At the meeting, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, expressed his deep admiration for the strong progress of Vietnamese football in recent years.
He emphasized that Vietnamese football has not only developed technically but also shown clear improvements in physical strength, tactical thinking and competitive spirit.

In particular, FIFA chief Gianni Infantino has expressed his desire to build a FIFA Football Academy in Vietnam. This is oriented to be an international training center, specializing in training players, coaches and football managers.
According to President Infantino, the construction of the Academy will be a strategic step, helping Vietnamese football improve the quality of youth training, thereby contributing to promoting the sustainable development of national football, as well as in the Southeast Asian region.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked President Gianni Infantino for his support for Vietnamese football in the past time and hoped that the President would continue to support the development of Vietnamese football, connecting Vietnamese football with Italian football, one of the leading football nations in the world.
On the Vietnamese side, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his sincere thanks to FIFA and President Infantino for their attention, companionship and support for Vietnamese football over the past time.
Affirming that football is an important part of the nation's social and cultural life, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Vietnamese Government is committed to creating the most favorable conditions if FIFA implements the project to build an International Football Academy in Vietnam.
The Prime Minister also invited the FIFA President to visit Vietnam soon and attend some activities related to Vietnam. Mr. Gianni Infantino happily accepted the invitation.
During his working trip to Malaysia to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related meetings, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Mr. Gianni Infantino, made a surprising announcement: Southeast Asia will have a new tournament called the FIFA ASEAN Cup.
Mr. Infantino said that the FIFA ASEAN Cup was established with the aim of breathing new life into football in the region, while also serving as a symbol of unity among nations through the world's most popular sport.
